
Scott Bloomquist, a major icon of dirt track racing, killed in a plane crash near Mooresburg. Scott Bloomquist was recognized as a legend in the world of racing and his death has come as a huge shock to the world of the sport.
Scott Bloomquist was in a private plane when it crashed near his home in Mooresburg, a single-engine Piper J3 ,Tennessee. According to initial reports, the aircraft suffered technical problems, leading to loss of control and the crash. Bloomquist has been confirmed dead in the crash, Tennessee Rescue Squad says the accident happened on Brooks Road off of Highway 31 in Mooresburg in the early morning hours.
The sheriff’s office says both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the crash.
Bloomquist, who was born on February 14, 1963, won several major awards and championships in his career. He was extremely successful in dirt late model racing and was often considered one of the sport’s greatest drivers. His driving style and technique gave him a special place in the racing community.
