Authorities in Los Angeles have made a significant arrest during the investigation into Matthew Perry’s death. According to two people involved in the investigation, a woman Jasveen Sangha, who was on condition of anonymity due to the contractuality of the case, has been arrested. Authorities had tried to ascertain who was supplying the ketamine in Matthew Perry’s body at the time of his death.
Following Perry’s death in October 2023, his autopsy report stated that his death was due to “acute effects of ketamine”. The 54-year-old actor, who became famous as Chandler Bing on the ‘Friends’ show, was found “swimming on his mouth” in a heated pool water at his Los Angeles home.
Ketamine, a substance with potent anesthetic and psychoactive properties, is often used as a treatment for depression, anxiety, and other mental health problems. This substance is also used and misused for entertainment. Los Angeles police confirmed earlier this year that they were investigating Perry’s source of ketamine, together with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), to ensure that it was legitimately obtained.
In April 2024, the Medical A Examiner report confirmed that Ketamine levels in Perry’s body were excessive for the time. These findings suggest that the amount of ketamine may not be the time of his last treatment session, which occurred about a week and a half before his death. According to the report, the amount of ketamine in their blood was equal to the amount used for general anesthesia.
Along with Perry’s death, drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine were also included in the causes of death. Buprenorphine, which is used to treat addiction and pain, was involved in Perry’s history of drugs.
The arrest of Jasveen Sangha as well as the investigation by the police and other relevant agencies is ongoing, and more information will be shared at a press conference in Los Angeles. At this time, Perry’s family and his fans hope that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and he will get justice.
